Woljif Jefto is a Companion in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Companions assist the player by joining his/her party and have their own backstories and unique characteristics.

As the descendants of demons, tieflings are not the most respected or trusted of Mendev's citizens, to put it mildly. However, a few minutes in conversation with Woljif is enough to see that it isn't prejudice working against this particular tiefling - it is his puddle-deep personality, his membership of one of Mendev's biggest thief gangs, and his chronic inability to stick to anything, even his own principles. Woljif sees you purely as a convenient way to solve a few of his problems. At least, for now.

How to Recruit Woljif Jefto

Act 1

Woljif can be recruited in the basem*nt of Defender's Heart. Woljif must be recruited before the Defender's Heart is attacked during A Stay of Execution as he will disappear from the basem*nt after the quest completes.

If during the Stolen Moon quest you attack sister Kerismei, Woljif will leave permanently during Act 2.

Act 3

During Act 2 Woljif will leave your party during the quest A Blow from the Sky. Once you have reclaimed Drezen by completing Banner over the Citadel you can re-recruit him in Act 3 by completing two specific "random" encounters on the world map. These encounters are not actually random at all - think of them as hidden locations rather than random encounters. You must have recruited him in the basem*nt of the Defender's Heart otherwise these encounters will not occur.

  1. The first encounter can always be found by traveling just south of the Lost Chapel on the world map. You will enter a Wilderness Encounter and will have to fight some baphomet cultists while others run away to warn the Crescent of the Abyss.
  2. There are two locations that will trigger the second encounter; you can go to either of them to trigger the event. The event won't appear unless you've done the first encounter.
    • Location 1 always happens on the road heading west from the Lost Chapel, halfway between the chapel and Greengates. After your first encounter with the cultists, head north back up to the Lost Chapel. Next, head west and keep going forward (the road will curve a bit, don't move onto any other paths). Once you've reached about halfway between the Lost Chapel and Greengates, you'll get the second encounter.
    • Location 2 always happens on the road going south from theLost Chapel to Wintersun. Unlike the first location above, which can be accessed without having to fight any armies, this location requires you to defeat a demon army and liberate a demon fort (Stone Maze Outpost) before you can travel there with your party. Travel south from the Lost Chapel until you have arrived at the Stone Maze Outpost. Once your party has reached Stone Maze Outpost, continue south and the event will trigger almost immediately.

Once you've arrived at the 2nd encounter be careful of the traps on the map and head to the northern section. You'll find Woljif there and can recruit him after solving his predicament with the cultists.

Gameplay

Woljif has some of the highest melee damage potential of the main party members, with his high Dexterity andSneak Attackability having the potential to deliver punishing amounts of damage, even early on. After having a party member occupy an enemy's attention, Woljif can flank them and deliver his attacks with Sneak Attack. One can also use spells and effects that make the enemy helpless of flat-footed to ensure Woljif gets the highest damage possible out of his attacks. Considering the amount of strong kukuri and rapiers are in the game, giving WoljifMartial Weapons Proficiencyor a dip in a class that has it can potentially pay off.

Woljif's archetype, Eldritch Scoundrel, is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it allows him to have greater versatility than a normal rogue, able to cast spells and use wands or scrolls so long as his Use Magic Device skill is high. He can also memorize different spells from scrolls. On the other hand, it forces him to never wear armor to avoid Arcane Spell Chance Failure, which when combined with Woljif's already low Constitution, makes him a serious glass cannon with the frailty that usually comes from being a wizard. When deploying him, make sure the enemy's attention is already occupied and avoid sending him in first by moving his initiative order until later if need be. Different class options includeSlayer, orVivisectionistAlchemist, both of which keep his Sneak Attack progression and reward more martial power in exchange for his spellcasting as an Eldritch Scoundrel, or Arcane Trickster, if you want to gave him a bit more magic, sacrificing a bit more martial capability for it (still get some Sneak Attack).

Personality

Woljif is typically playful and smug, smiling and joking whenever he has a chance. In the past, he has lived his life on the streets, relying on his wits and instincts to keep him alive. This makes him quite slow to trust, keeping the Commander at arm's lengthduring Act 1 until they complete his personal mission to earn his trust. Heis implied to be quite young and this shows in his love of playing practical jokes. He apparently enjoys messing with people who don't know any better, like tellingNenioandArueshalaeblatantly false information for laughs. Having grown up hungry on the street, his initial dream is to be rich and powerful so that he can lord over those who looked down on him.

However, his smile and jokes seem to hide a great deal of sadness and fear borne from his past. His parental abandonment, his grandmother's abusive alcoholism, and thediscriminationhe suffered as aTieflinggrowing up inKenabres, all left deep scars on him. He isvery scared for his own life, so much so that he panics during the gargoyle attack on the Crusade and runs off, not rejoining the party out of fear that the Commander will kill him for deserting. It is only after the Commander defends Woljif from Voetil that he comes to truly trust them with his life, beginning to see the party as the family he never really had. He never deserts again after this, unless the Commander goes down the Swarm path. Conversely, he responds enthusiastically to severalTricksterpath dialogues.

Build 2

Woljif Build Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous Guide – In this Woljif Build Guide, I’m going to break down the Archetype to multiclass with, Attributes, Skills, Feats, Medical Discoveries, Spells, Mythic Path, and Equipment you should choose in order to take advantage of Woljif’s Sneak Attacks. We’re going to multiclass with the Vivisectionist Alchemist to stack these attacks and to buff ourselves with Mutagens and Spells. If you’re looking for a way to efficiently eliminate enemies up close with a Dual Dagger Melee Build, then this Woljif Build Guide is for you!

By default, Woljif’s Eldritch Scoundrel Prestige Class is average at best. It aims to combine the best features of a Rogue and a Wizard, however, it isn’t very effective. You don’t get Sneak Attacks as often as you should and your Spell Slots per level are too limited. Your Armor Class (AC) or how difficult it is to hit you is also low to begin with, which means that you often need to be micromanaged just to stay alive in Combat.

As such, we’re going to multiclass with the Vivisectionist Alchemist. Not only are you able to take Sneak Attacks at every other level, but you also gain access to Medical Discoveries. These provide you with Attribute and defense buffs, which can be activated prior to the start of an encounter. You also perform an additional Natural Attack on top of the Melee Attacks you execute with Daggers.
