From victory to elimination
This is the first time that the USMNT has ever failed to advance from the group stage of a tournament after winning their first game.
They had progressed each of the previous 23 times that they had opened a tournament with a victory.

That's it, it's all over! The referee whistles for full time and the USMNT's time at Copa America 2024 is over.

90+5' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
Uruguay are taking their time with every stoppage, delaying throw-ins, playing for time as the US fans begin to fear it's over.
Marcelo Bielsa's men are throwing themselves at everything. They don't seem likely to be breached now.

Pulisic darts into the Uruguay box and goes down under contact from the defense. He shouts at the referee for a penalty but he's not getting the call.

That is full time here in Orlando. Panama defeats Bolivia 3-1.
They've made it out of the group stage in this tournament for the first time ever, unless the US can score two late goals.
Wright took too long to shoot
89' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
That’s probably the best move of the game for the US. They carved a really good opening on the left flank but Haji Wright took way too long. You don’t have that time in the penalty area. Equally, you have to credit the Uruguay defending, players throwing their bodies in the way.
Big chance for Wright!

87' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
The best passing move we've seen from the US all night ends up with the ball at Wright's feet in the Uruguay box. He takes a touch before shooting, though, which allows defenders to block his effort on goal. The deflected shot nearly squeaks into the goal anyway, but Rochet gets over in time to claim it.
Panama score to double their lead over Bolivia
90+1' Bolivia 1-3 Panama
A beautiful strike in stoppage time has surely clinched Panama's win over Bolivia.
The US now need to beat Uruguay in order to advance...
US simply haven't been good enough

83' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
There will be a lot of discussion after this game about an officiating decision. Or Weah's suspension. Or Balogun's injury.
But a dose of reality is needed, also: Panama are winning, which means the US needed to win this game. And they've barely demonstrated the necessary adventure, wit and conviction needed to go and win the match in this second half.
Maybe they were biding their time to gamble late on, and nobody can question the effort, but the truth is the USMNT have lacked quality and depth here to beat a team as competent as Uruguay.

I may be jinxing Uruguay, but there are few teams in the world better than them at defending a lead. It was so important for the US to score first.
What the US need to advance to knockout stage

The US need either:
- Two goals to take the lead against Uruguay
- Or one goal to draw level with Uruguay, and one Bolivia goal from them to draw level with Panama

79' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
Josh Sargent replaced Yunus Musah several minutes ago, and now Haji Wright is coming on for Joe Scally.
Uruguay did similarly. They replaced Matías Viña with José Giménez a bit ago, and now Rodrigo Bentancur has come on for Nicolas de la Cruz.
Chance for Pulisic

75' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
Pulisic creates one of the US's better chances of the game but his deflected strike is cleared off the line by a Uruguay defender.
Bad news for US: Panama retake lead against Bolivia

80' Bolivia 1-2 Panama
Another goal in Orlando from Panama! The CONCACAF nation has once again taken the lead off a deadly strike from Eduardo Guerrero. Fans in the stands, mostly here for Panama, are on their feet. What a night.

Uruguay goal onside, just
FOX
73' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
We've finally seen the VAR offside line replay, and the Uruguay goal was kept onside by Richards' big toe!
Still unclear why Uruguay's goal stood

71' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
Frustrating not just as an experience in the stadium but also on television. We didn’t get a conclusive replay throughout that lengthy delay. My kingdom for a decent camera angle and some slo-mo!
USMNT surprised Uruguay goal was given
71' USMNT 0-1 Uruguay
The US players clearly felt the replay showed Uruguay's goal was offside. They had the ball ready for the free kick and Tyler Adams had walked back into the middle of the field signaling to his teammates the goal was coming back.
