"'Together' is putting it lightly," Madi murmurs, her voice only loud enough to reach my ears. "You're in love with each other. That's pretty significant."

Madi has joined me on many of my coffee shop adventures over the last couple weeks while the boys have been busy, and she is fully up to date on everything that's gone down between Chris and I.

"Says the girl who's been trying to convince me to make things official with him since the day I met you." I keep my voice low, grinning at Madi.

She shrugs, raising her eyebrows at me. "I'm a big advocate of not prolonging the inevitable."

Madi and I continue to whisper about all kinds of nonsense for the rest of the drive to Callie's, the boys paying no attention to us since they are distracted with their conversation about some new video game they're all playing.

"Matt, it's this apartment building right here," I interrupt Chris' rant about God knows what, pointing between the front seats to the brick building on the right. "Oh, there she is!" I chuckle at the sight of Callie seated on her duffel bag at the front entrance, scrolling on her phone with no awareness of the large family inching around her to get inside. That girl is clueless.

"That's Callie?" Matt's voice drops, the smile on his face vanishing. "Please tell me you're joking."

A slight frown graces my face and I glance at Chris in confusion. He shrugs, apparently not understanding Matt's mood shift either.

"Do you know her?" I question, aware of the silence behind us as everyone in the car eavesdrops.

"No. I don't," Matt states shortly as he pulls up to the curb and honks the horn.

Madi and I both hop out of the car, and a huge smile blooms on Callie's face when she spots us. "Hey! You're Madi, right?" Callie gives both of us hugs, and thanks Madi when she takes her bag to the trunk.

"Nick wants to sit in the back with us," I inform her. "He will throw a tantrum if you refuse."

Callie laughs and immediately steps closer to the van. "Nicolas! My future best friend!"

I watch as she grins at Nick in the backseat before her eyes trail over the rest of the car and stop on Matt, who is already looking at her with a blank expression. Her grin falls off her face, her gaze locked on Matt's. "You have got to be f*cking kidding me."

"I guess we never exchanged names, did we?" Matt says dryly. "In case you're stupid and haven't figured it out, I'm Matt."

Callie grits her teeth, but stays silent. She flips Matt off before clambering into the back seat, her excitement returning as she and Nick fall into conversation.

Madi and I exchange a confused look before climbing back into the car. Matt wastes no time in pulling back onto the road, his knuckles locked around the steering wheel.

"Matt, what was that?" Chris asks quietly. "That was kind of a sh*tty thing to say."

"Well, Callie's the queen of talking sh*t, so I'm sure she's not phased." Matt rolls his eyes.

I lean forward again, allowing Madi and Nate to pick up a conversation behind my back. "Matt, seriously, what the f*ck is going on?"

Callie's loud laugh fills the car as Nick rambles on about something, and Matt's eyes narrow at the rearview mirror. "We met at that party we went to a few weeks ago," he says under his breath. "I'll spare you the details, but we did not get along."

The frown on my face matches the one on Chris'. Matt usually gets along with everyone easily, and it is rare that he ever has a problem with someone. "Sorry, Matt. I didn't know."

"Not your fault," he shrugs, sighing softly. "It'll still be a good weekend, I promise."

Chris gives me a look, silently telling me to scram so he can press Matt for more details. So naturally, I turn around to interrogate the other person involved.

"Don't give me that look," Callie groans, pushing her long hair over her shoulders. "I had no f*cking clue that was Matt."

"Haven't you seen pictures?" I hiss, not understanding what the hell is going on. "And you've met Chris! Multiple times! And you follow Nick on instagram! They all look similar!"

"Not that similar!" Callie argues, making Nick snort in amusem*nt. "How much did he tell you?"

"Not much. But I get the impression that he thinks you're a sh*t talking bitch." I peek over my shoulder when Chris' voice rises slightly. He and Matt are locked in a whispered argument, Matt's head shaking in refusal as he keeps his eyes trained on the road. Madi and Nate are playing a game on Nate's phone and are silently passing the device both forth, both obviously uncomfortable with the tension filling the car.

"Well, he's a jackass, so it evens out," Callie mumbles.

Nick stiffens slightly and his jaw ticks. I shoot him a look, warning him to stay out of it. "Callie, Matt's not a jackass. Why are you so pissed?"

Callie slumps back in her seat, crossing her arms over her chest. "He was to me. I don't want to talk about it." On a second thought, Callie glances at Nick sheepishly. "Sorry I called your brother a jackass. I'm sure he's generally a nice person. We just had some issues when we met."

Nick relaxes, smiling at Callie in understanding. "I get it. Don't worry about it."

Sensing that I won't get anymore out of Callie, I spin back around in my seat. "Hey morons, stop arguing." Matt and Chris both glare at me, but I ignore them, continuing to speak. "This weekend is meant to be a break from everything that's been stressing everyone out lately. I know we've all had a lot going on, and I want us to just have a good, chill weekend. So if anyone gets mad at anyone else, take a breather. Don't make it everyone else's business. I have fun stuff planned, but no one is going to enjoy it if people are bickering. Okay?"

Matt and Callie both mumble agreements, and I roll my eyes at the obvious discontent. With the exception of Nick, Matt is probably the worst person to have mad at you. When he is upset, everyone knows it, and he is not shy about firing off insults to whoever is pissing him off. And Callie is the bluntest person I have ever met in my life. If the two of them are going to continue fighting, it's going to be a long weekend. God help us all.
