First time I stepped foot in Cleveland was on July 6, 2021. I took this picture as a backward hat-wearing punk with no idea what I was getting myself into. Have since been knocked down a peg or two. And as I enter my 2nd year of studies at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU, it is an honor to share I will be completing my remaining 500 field placement hours with Case Western Reserve University School of Law's Human Trafficking Law Project. Let's get to work! #changeagent

Filled with great joy, today, as I accept a federal judicial externship with Judge Bissoon of the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania. Pinching myself that I will get to live and work in Pittsburgh this Summer 🖤💛 Proud of all my Case Western Reserve University School of Law friends, no matter where they are in their job search, and I am endlessly thankful.

I had such an amazing evening being an invitee at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland ‘s annual meeting. Seeing a room of people organize around access to justice and promote an antiracist strategic vision made me stoked, yet again, to be attending law school in Cleveland. Shout out to my friend and Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU classmate Jasmine Cuenca for the incredible work she has done throughout her field placements at LASC! Lastly, thank you to my 1L peers who attended this event. What a welcome study break. I left feeling more inspired than ever to make an impact through service and study of the law.

In applying to the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU two years ago, I was eager to sign-up for the hard work of engaging in community and direct practice throughout the Greater Cleveland area. Luckily, I was selected for the Leadership Fellows Program alongside these six stars and have made a second family along the way. I know that no matter what city we are living in or where we are working, even when I cannot see my friends, their light will surely shine through to countless others. #changeagents

Phenomenal session led by my dear mentor Heather Burton, Ph.D. , yesterday. Love any opportunity where the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU crosses over with my JD education. It was an absolute pleasure to learn from co-facilitators Dr. Robert Solomon and Catherine Spear, as well. Tremendously thankful to be apart of the inaugural AILD cohort at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Happy Sunday! If you get a minute for some leisure reading, today, I'd recommend taking the time to view this article from The Atlantic on attachment styles. Here's my favorite quote: "Most of us aren’tjust insecure or secure; we’re insecure at times and secure in others. By bending toward security even if total security eludes us, we can grow—and that might mean becoming a better friend."

Wrapped up my first week of classes at Case Western Reserve University School of Law today.Contracts, criminal, & torts—oh my! As my fellow Advocate & roommate Alexander Abraham advised me, “1L will be the hardest we have ever worked in our lives.”Ready to embrace the privilege of being able to study at an institution that values experiential, interprofessional education as much as I do. Truly excited to leverage my strengths these next three years and to serve Cleveland in ways that I never before imagined.

As Summer on the Cuyahoga comes to an end, there are too many interns from our nine partner schools that come to mind whom I could thank—so there’s one I’ll congratulate who is a recent graduate of Oberlin College.Benjamin Collado, having completed two SOTC internships with The Aspire Program of Hathaway Brown and The REACH Program at University School, is heading to the University of Colorado Boulder to serve as their Student Athlete Academic Support Specialist. In this role, Ben will dedicate himself to student athletes with IEPs and connect them with tutoring services, academic advising, and coordinate with the Pac-12 Conference to make sure university, conference and NCAA standards are met.Ben is a mentor through and through. He’s intentional; he listens, he processes, and he takes action. I am remarkably fortunate to have a friend like him. “Go West, young man”. Eager to greet you upon your return to the Land.
