Position Purpose The Sr. Payroll Administer is responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for all employees ensuring that employees are paid accurately and timely. Ensures compliance with all local, federal and state payroll, benefits regulations relating to employee payroll. Works with the T&OD team to support company benefits programs including deductions, tracking and compliance. Supports accounting functions such as month end close, cash posting and benefits invoicing. Works cross-functionally to support company goals and strategies outside of accounting.
Responsibilities
Timely input of accurate payroll information and distribution of payroll checks. Processing and managing multiple payroll activities with bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.
Balancing quarterly and annual tax reports for year-end statements.
Oversee and participate in monthly payroll processing for DWF Metrology by third party vendor. Includes accurate reporting of employment activity, reviewing salary details, communicating commission details.
Determine accuracy of payroll and benefit related liabilities, including employee and employer taxes and benefit premiums.
Verify set up of new earnings and deduction codes for related taxability and W2 reporting requirements.
Manage worker’s comp policies. Including quarterly reporting, ensuring prompt payment, spearheading annual audit, adding new states as required.
Manage 401k plan. Including annual reporting, spearheading annual audits, ensuring accurate biweekly funding, ensuring accurate employee enrollments.
Support calculation, payment and reporting of commissions, profit sharing bonus, and other bonus payments.
Act as liaison to internal departments; providing guidance, building relationships and resolving escalated issues. Respond to employee payroll questions and issues, providing excellent customer service.
Facilitate annual payroll audits, including workers’ compensation and 401k.
Coordinate with Talent & Organizational Development in administering the company’s benefit plans and processing annual open enrollment changes.
Oversee weekly Agency Contractor Partner processing. Including timekeeping, approving agency timecards based on supervisor approval in ERP system, processing agency invoices and reconciling issues.
Create, document and continuously improve practices and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and processes.
Strong knowledge of compliance for quarterly and annual reporting requirements related to taxes and benefits.
Strong MS Office skills and excellent Excel knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Proactive and committed to continual improvement.
Demonstrated problem solving, systems and method improvement skills.
Actively shows initiative and adapts to a rapidly changing work environment.
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
7+ years’ payroll experience, small to mid-sized companies.
Prior experience with ERP systems and UltiPro a plus.
