9 Useful Cable Organizers For Getting It All Together (2024)

One of life’s greatest pleasures is finding joy in the simple things, like getting (and staying) organized. Walk into any of your friends' homes or workspaces, and what do you see? A mess of chords. Walk into your own home or workspace, and what do you see? (Sorry for this reality check.) Chords, the answer is chords. There's chords from your TV, chords from your gaming devices, chords from (not actually wireless) wireless charger. We're surrounded by technew tech and old tech—and thus surrounded by Chords.

Sorry, can you tell these things piss me off? Cords are long and messy and get beat up and knotted when they have no structure. They need structure. They need to be reared and controlled. Without cable organization, we are little more than beasts. So, how do you get a hold of your cable situation and crumbling life? Cable organizers. Cable organizers offer you some mental respite, and they're all pretty cheap and easy to use, so there's no more excuses for the state of your desk top. Here are nine of the best cable organizers for both that instant satisfaction, and for the relief that comes with seeing your stuff all neat and tidy every time you look at it. If, after organizing, you still can't place what some of the cords were for, throw them out. It'll be a whole new world out there.

Twelve South CableSnap Stay

Pros
  • 9 Useful Cable Organizers For Getting It All Together (20)Adhesive will stick to anything, without ruining paint
  • 9 Useful Cable Organizers For Getting It All Together (21)Reliable snap closure
Cons
  • 9 Useful Cable Organizers For Getting It All Together (22)Careful with the adhesive

Twelve South is the brand to rely on for desk and office organization that is high-quality and easy on the eyes. These surface straps use buttons to make it easy to get cords in and out of them. The adhesive on the back sticks to the surface you want it on but the button closure makes it work well with cords you move around often.

The only hesitation I have is with using this adhesive on antique furniture. In 95 percent of cases, it'll be fine. But, I can foresee a few antique desks getting a little bit stripped with this. If you're unsure, spot test on the backside of the desk.
